CSDM (Common Service Data Model) defines where services, applications and CIs belong in ServiceNow, so ITSM, ITOM, SPM and CSM all work from the same structure. This standard course is a strategic and practical guide to implementing it: your team learns how the model works, designs a CSDM-aligned structure for your organisation and implements it with standard ServiceNow tools.
Why companies book it
You are starting a CSDM implementation and want the team aligned before the data work begins
Your service model has grown over time and no longer matches how you deliver services
You are moving to CSDM 5 and need to understand what changed
Reporting, routing or impact analysis is unreliable because services are modelled inconsistently
Who should attend
Configuration and CMDB managers, service owners and service portfolio managers, enterprise and solution architects, and platform owners.
The model at a glance
CSDM 5 organises service data in seven domains. Foundation data such as companies, locations, groups and users supports everything above it. Five domains follow the service life cycle from Ideation & Strategy through Design & Planning, Build & Integration and Service Delivery to Service Consumption, and Manage Portfolio sits across them as a layer for managing services and products.
What the course covers
The standard course covers six areas: understanding CSDM, foundation data, modelling services, implementation approach, putting the model to work, and ownership and governance. It follows a phased methodology that supports your adoption strategy, and we can tailor it to where you are today, whether you are starting out, cleaning up an older model or moving to CSDM 5.
